Stray

Quickly fell the sky-forge, and the moon soon took its place. Quill-like clouds streamed across the sky, and soon the world went dark.
Prowling through the alleys, the stray found the food-chests. Primed to eat, her stomach rumbled loudly.
But a scent was in the air, one pungent and strange, Seemingly of something not like her, something wild and untamed.
A ringed night stalker burst forth, brown and masked, Ready to defend her bounty, and her young who fed on it.
Hunger drove the stray through her fear, Haunching over, she bared her flesh-shredders.
Fur standing on end, she made herself imposing. Foam spilled from her lips, and splattered on the ground.
Hastily the stalker grabbed a morsel in her paws, and having gathered her brood, escaped the waiting fangs of the stray.
Now the food-chest belonged to the stray. No more would she crawl weakly through the streets.
